Shaista Mukadam is a Senior Lecturer at Birmingham City University with over 16 years of experience, including four years as a visiting lecturer. She specializes in Islamic Finance, blending academic expertise with real-world experience as a qualified chartered accountant and charity trustee. She is passionate about student success, staying current with financial trends, and enhancing employability. Her teaching is enriched by practical examples, guest speakers, and field trips, especially in the Islamic Finance modules she teaches as part of the BSc (Hons) Accounting and Islamic Finance she curated and launched in September 2021.
Shaista’s proudest achievements include mentoring staff, supporting students into graduate roles, and contributing to university-wide improvements. In 2021, she was honoured with the Womani Award and named among the Top 50 Influential Women in Islamic Business & Finance. She recently has written a chapter in a book about Abrahamic Finance and released 2 podcasts on Islamic Finance for its awareness and advocacy.
