Head of Shariah Compliance, Kuwait Finance House
Mufti Muhammad is Head of Shariah Compliance at Kuwait Finance House, UK. Since joining KFH he has been a key member for the conversion of the former Alhi United Bank to a Shariah compliant Bank following the acquisition by KFH and is part of the senior management committee.
Prior to joining the KFH, Mufti Muhammad spent over a decade in his capacity as Executive Vice President and Head of Shariah Advisory and Shariah Compliance at Gatehouse Bank and held the role of Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Board of the bank.
Prior to Gatehouse Bank, he spent number of years with Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) in the Shariah Coordination Department as well as worked for HSBC Bank Plc in London. He was ranked among the Worlds’ leading scholar by FAILAKA (2008) and received the ZAKI BADAWI Award for Outstanding Young Shariah Advisory (2009). He is also the co-author of the Islamic Finance Qualification with CISI.
Mufti Muhammad is an Islamic Jurist and English qualified solicitor. He studied Shariah (in a traditional Madrasa environment) including Arabic language and literature, Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, Tafseer, Hadith (including the six most famous books), and completed the Shahaadatul Aalamiyyah and obtained BA/MA (Islamic Theology) from Darul Uloom Al Arabiyya Al Islamiyya, Bury, UK. He subsequently spent another year at the same institution specialising in Fiqh. (Islamic Jurisprudence).
Mufti Muhammad holds LL.B (Hons), Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Skills (City University), LL.M (Master of Laws) in Banking and Finance Law (University College London, UK) and Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from BPP Law School and is a Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA) by Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI).
